Congregation Beth Ohr of Old Bridge New Jersey is a small conservative synagogue.We are a warm and welcoming congregation. We enjoy celebrating holidays together and participating in community activities.
The primary job responsibilities are to deal with the day-to-day running of the Synagogue. These include but are
not limited to the following.
Administrative
· Handling all incoming phone calls, mail and email and attempting to respond. Referring all clergy related inquiries to the Rabbi.
· Providing administrative assistance to the Rabbi and Board of Directors
· Going to the Post Office every morning to retrieve mail from the post office box and as often as required to mail out statements, checks, etc.
· Performing general office tasks including but not limited to mailing, copying, filing and creating documents
· Assisting the House Chairman with the coordination of all maintenance and repairs to both the Synagogue and Parsonage
· Supporting Sisterhood by selling Scrip
· Overseeing the cleaning service
· Making cemetery and funeral arrangements as required and notifying the
Rabbi and President
· Updating & maintaining all licenses, applications and permits for Old Bridge Township and the State of New Jersey
· Managing/updating the Congregational database
· Processing the purchase of Yahrzeit plaques, Tree of Life leaves and bricks
Financial
· Preparing bank deposits, making copies of all checks, for the Financial Secretary at least once per week
· Charging credit cards at least once per month and making copies of all charges for the Financial Secretary
· Supporting the Treasurer to ensure all bills are paid and filed
· Supporting the Financial Secretary with regard to the High Holidays. This includes but is not limited to preparing the various forms, printing tickets, distributing tickets
Communications
Preparing Weekly Announcements,emailing to Congregation and preparing copies for the Synagogue
Preparing Monthly Newsletter, emailing to Congregation and preparing copies for those members who cannot access it electronically and preparing copies for the Synagogue
Managing Zoom meetings which includes scheduling and sending out Zoom links for meetings/services
Provide point person for tennants which includes Main Street Theater and Glorious Faith God Ministrie
Maintaining Synagogue calendar and coordinating with our tennants
Notifying congregants of yahrzeits and putting up plaques when appropriate
Qualifications and Skills
Have strong computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher and G-Mail. Basic knowledge of internet and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
Ability to work independently
Good oral and written skills
Knowledge of Jewish Traditions and Holidays helpful
HOURS: TUESDAY THRU FRIDAY 9AM TO 3PM
