Campus Rabbi (Full-Time)
Beth Yeshurun Day School, in collaboration with Congregation Beth Yeshurun, is looking for a dynamic Campus Rabbi to join our community beginning summer of 2022. This unique and exciting position will work directly with both day school and congregation families.
The Campus Rabbi will be expected to connect day school families with the congregation. Working in collaboration with the other clergy and executive staff members, the Campus Rabbi will be able to creatively imagine and implement innovative children’s Shabbat services and Holiday programming for the entire synagogue community. The Campus Rabbi will help coordinate and lead HHD family services and programs. The Campus Rabbi will also be responsible for leading life cycle events when called upon, participating in hospital visits, and other pulpit duties as requested by the Senior Rabbi.
Day School Responsibilities:
The Campus Rabbi will be responsible for leading Shabbat services in the elementary school, along with monthly Torah services and grade level Judaic milestone celebrations/performances (in collaboration with the Principal of Jewish Life and music teacher).
Duties associated with this portion of the position include: being comfortable leading tefillot services, working with students on learning Trope and chanting Torah, writing Divrei Torah, teaching Jewish songs as appropriate to Shabbat and upcoming chagim, and bringing an overall love of Judaism to the students and families. This includes early childhood-5th grade.
The Campus Rabbi will teach one-two elementary school grade levels of Judaic Studies with a Hebrew integration component. Specific grade levels and curricula to be determined in collaboration with the Head of School and Principal of Jewish Life.
Duties associated with classroom teaching include: lesson planning, grading, report cards, parent communications, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Must be a member rabbi in good standing of the Rabbinical Assembly (or a graduating senior of one of the approved RA rabbinical seminaries)
- Candidates must know Hebrew, Judaic Studies, and Tefillot
- Have a passionate, student-centered approach to teaching
- Willingness to participate fully in the Beth Yeshurun community
- Musical proficiency preferred
- Applicants must have a working visa for a U.S. school or U.S. citizenship
