Our synagogue is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to serve as our new Director of Education and Programming. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our synagogue community by overseeing vital administrative functions, programming, and community engagement, as well as the expansion of our educational programs.

Responsibilities:

Administrative & Programming

  1. Member Communication & Marketing: Create and distribute engaging content via email, social media, physical collateral, text, and other channels to keep our congregation informed and engaged.
  2. New Member Outreach: Develop strategies to welcome and integrate new members into our community, facilitating their transition and involvement in synagogue activities.
  3. CRM & Website Maintenance: Ensure the accurate and up-to-date management of our CRM system and website content via ShulCloud, providing easy access to information for members and visitors.
  4. Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various synagogue activities and events, fostering a spirit of collaboration and community engagement.
  5. Event Coordination: Help plan, organize, and execute events for members and visitors, from major holidays to weekly community events.
  6. Oversee Community-Led Activities: Identify and recruit members to lead a variety of community-led events and provide necessary support and coordination.

Education

  1. Religious School Oversight: Manage and lead our newly expanded religious school for Kindergarten through 7th grade, overseeing curriculum development, teacher training, and student engagement.
  2. Early Childhood Programs: Enhance and expand early childhood programs to engage families with young children, providing meaningful Jewish experiences from infancy through preschool.
  3. Youth Group Development: Develop and facilitate youth groups and post-b'nai mitzvah learning opportunities for teenagers, fostering their continued connection to Jewish tradition and community.
  4. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with educators and clergy to develop innovative and relevant curriculum materials that inspire learning and personal growth.
  5. Teacher Management: Recruit, supervise, and support a team of teachers and substitutes, fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  6. Family Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with families, providing resources and support to encourage active participation in synagogue life from birth through high school.
  7. Holiday Experiences and Programming: Create and execute holiday programming throughout the year for families and youth, from High Holy Days and other major holidays.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of relevant Jewish teaching experience
  • Proven record of developing and implementing youth education programming
  • Experience coordinating community events
  • Has a strong background in, knowledge for, and love of Judaism and Jewish community
  • Highly self-motivated and a natural problem solver
  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs and social media; ShulCloud experience a plus
  • Great organizational and communication skills; a strong multitasker
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $55,000-$80,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience
