The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

 

Position Overview:  

Reporting directly to the Midwest Regional Director, the Midwest NCSY Advisor Coordinator is responsible for managing, training, and mentoring the volunteer advisor staff, as well as serving as a liaison between the advisors and the regional and national staff. They will act as a role model for the advisors and help build a regional advisor team that connects with teens, inspiring and empowering them to become well-rounded Jewish young adults.

 

Job Responsibilities  

  • Serve as a liaison between volunteer staff and chapter staff/regional administration, with a focus on advisor mentorship, logistics, and connecting advisors to programs in cities where they are needed.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire regional advisors.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise a team of 30+ advisors while working with the  

Midwest NCSY leadership to encourage advisor involvement in continued advisor education and engagement programs.

  • Maintain connection with advisors between Shabbatons by coordinating East Coast events and helping connect advisors to chapter programming.
  • Manage relationship system, book requests, and track chavrusas between Shabbatonim with teens and advisors, and increase the advisor participation rate. 
  • Contribute to regional Shabbaton planning as it relates to advisors by sharing ideas for advisor development and helping to create and implement programming that enhances the advisor experience.
  • Plan advisor engagement programs such as advisor Shabbaton, appreciation dinners, etc., and connect advisors to existing National NCSY advisor programs.
  • Manage advisor logistics with the Director of Operations, including flights, reimbursements, and all travel needs for chapter or regional Shabbatons and programs.  

 

Salary:

This position will pay $15,000 per year.
