JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Teen Programs will oversee all aspects of JTS’s existing portfolio of teen programs, including the Emerging Leaders Fellowship and Prozdor. The Director will also lead efforts to explore and develop new ventures in teen education.  

A successful candidate will be both a community builder with experience engaging young adults and a program manager with an understanding of the unique needs of teen education programs. This position will also provide direct teaching opportunities using Jewish Studies curriculum.

This position reports to the Dean of the Division of Lifelong and Professional Studies (DLPS).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Administration

  • Oversee recruitment strategy and admissions process
  • Work with JTS Communications and the DLPS team to produce marketing materials and content
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage program faculty and mentors
  • Manage budgeting and expenses for programs
  • Mentor students and track progress towards program completion
  • Oversee program assessment and data management
  • Process contracts and expenses for faculty and families
  • Partner with Academic Affairs to maintain compliance with JTS and New York State policies.

Program and Event Production

  • Plan and produce programing that builds community among teens in grades 9 through 12
  • Teach weekly/monthly Jewish Studies classes
  • Manage aspects of planning and production for special in-person events including a teen shabbaton on the JTS campus.

New Curriculum and Program Development

  • Lead efforts to explore and develop new teen learning opportunities at JTS
  • Build partnerships with other teen education organizations/programs
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to ensure that new programming aligns with JTS’s curricular standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in educational program management and development
  • Proven community builder, especially with young adults
  • Willingness to work flexibly to accommodate 
  • Interest in new program development and implementation and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, collaborative, enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at the same time
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office

Department: Division of Lifelong and Professional Studies
Reports to: Dean of the Division of Lifelong and Professional Studies
Location: In-person in New York, with some remote flexibility
Full-time: 35-hour work week
Salary: 65-70K commensurate with experience
