Congregation Agudas Achim is a conservative synagogue located in Northwest Austin who is seeking a dynamic individual to support our clergy in all aspects of synagogue life.  This individual should be a motivated, self-directed, problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.


This is a full-time position, including some evenings and weekends scheduled in advance.  The Administrative Assistant to Clergy will be responsible for managing the day-to-day support of our Senior and Associate Rabbis, as well as coordinating lifecycle events, weekly services support, and holidays and festivals throughout the year.  For a candidate to be successful in this position they must be highly organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks, possess stellar verbal and written communication skills, a calm demeanor, have respectful interactions with congregants, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.   


  • Responsible for setting appointments for both rabbis and coordinating schedules with other staff members, and committees. Reviews calendar on a regular basis to pro-actively identify needs and discuss/plan, accordingly, manage all meeting logistics
  • Filters requests, screens calls, greets guests, and provides general gatekeeping for both rabbis
  • Contacting weekly Shabbat services participants, confirming all participants in weekly services, and creating accurate weekly program; including B’nei mitzvah families with special participants
  • Maintaining weekly list of Mi Sheberach (ill community members) and Yahrzeit (death anniversaries)
  • Coordinating all aspects of life cycle events, including licenses and documentation for births, marriages, divorces, deaths, and conversions
  • Responsible for communications from Rabbi’s including weekly Shabbat emails and death notices
  • Provides monthly birthday and anniversary lists with contact information
  • Order prayerbooks when needed
  • Maintain annual list of deceased members for Annual Meeting and High Holy Days
  • Order Yahrzeit plaques for families and keep accurate records
  • Draft correspondence for both rabbis
  • Provides project management assistance as needed, including additional key administrative support such as photocopying, filing, documenting, etc.


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, degree in administration or another relevant field a plus
  • 1-2 years’ administrative support experience or equivalent work
  • Proficient in MS Office/Google programs, Slack, ShulCloud
  • Interest and knowledge of synagogue life and Jewish ritual practice desired but not necessary
  • Understanding of how to work with volunteers and lay leadership
