POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Regional Director, New England will play a critical role in ensuring more Jewish children experience excellent Jewish camp. This position will strengthen and expand FJC’s presence in the Boston area and across New England by building, supporting, and leveraging strong relationships with regional Jewish camps and local Jewish federations and foundations. 

The Regional Director will provide camps with professional development and training, grant opportunities, and networking connections, serving as a trusted partner and resource. This role calls for a proactive leader with exceptional relationship-building skills and a deep commitment to advancing FJC’s regional goals and strategic initiatives. 

In addition to regionally focused responsibilities, the Regional Director will oversee select programs and initiatives with field-wide impact. This position is part of FJC’s growing regional strategy and team, which already includes regional centers in the Southeast, Midwest, and West Coast. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop deep relationships with the leadership of Jewish day and overnight camps in the New England region; understand the opportunities, challenges and needs of each camp; work to address specific regional issues.   
  • Represent FJC with area camps, community groups, and the philanthropic community with integrity, expertise, knowledge, and passion. Steward relationships and identify opportunities for fundraising with local federations, foundations, and funders. 
  • Refine and execute regional initiatives and programs for camps, professionals, and lay leaders, in coordination and consistent with FJC’s overall mission and strategic plan; pilot new programs as appropriate. Oversee, evaluate, and adjust pilots to accelerate the implementation and scaling of high-impact ideas. 
  • Manage all aspects of local projects, including program content, resource requirements, budgeting and program evaluation. 
  • Represent the region internally and bring learnings and programs back for appropriate replication. 
  • Support growing partnerships with federations and local Jewish community organizations. 
  • Oversee one or more national priority areas, from strategy and content development to funder relationship management and program execution. 
  • Perform administrative and managerial oversight functions for the local office, as needed. 
  • Accept additional responsibilities and duties as determined by the Senior Director, Grant Making and Field Expansion and members of the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Consistently demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to powerfully represent FJC’s mission to constituencies at the individual, local, regional, and national levels.  
  • Able to approach work with a positive attitude, curiosity, and a growth mindset. 
  • Utilize a customer-focused approach when working with colleagues and contributors.  
  • Ability to build and manage complex relationships with varied constituencies including area camps, foundations and community organizations. 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and have excellent organizational, project and time management skills.  
  • Possess superior analytical, abstract reasoning, organizational, interpersonal, fundraising and facilitation skills. 
  • Able to prioritize a diverse and demanding workload; set attainable expectations; delegate appropriately; and hold yourself and collaborators accountable to deadlines, milestones, and a high level of excellence.  
  • Ability to manage and implement organizational/departmental strategy and/or effectively manage change. 
  • Can effectively operate independently and remotely from the head office of FJC; ability to travel as much as 30% of the time. 

CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 7+ years of work experience, with significant exposure to the field of Jewish camp required.  
  • Prior program budget and grant management experience is a plus. 
  • Previous experience with project and/or program management. 
  • Proven track record of successful contribution to organizational fundraising efforts. 
  • Tech-savvy with collaborative tech tools. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Asana, and FormAssembly and/or Alchemer a plus.  
  • Expertise with group training, facilitation, and/or experiential Jewish education preferred.

Salary120,000.00 - 135,000.00 Annual
