About the Role
Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE) is growing and seeks an entry-level Administrative Coordinator who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and hands-on. This role supports Advancement and Engagement and is an excellent launchpad for learning membership management, fundraising, and development. The coordinator works closely with professional staff, clergy, and congregants and helps us deliver on our goal of being the friendliest congregation in New York.
This is an entry level position. Training will be provided for all responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter, maintain and report on data in CBE’s CRM and related systems.
- Support member engagement: welcome new members, lead tours, and assemble monthly welcome packets.
- Provide event support for Shabbat services, evening programs, and High Holy Days as part of the engagement team.
- Manage rentals of CBE spaces including creating contracts and managing internal communications about rental event plans and needs.
- Arrange and track city permits for CBE public events.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with—or eagerness to learn—CRM databases, project management tools, and office software (Excel/Google Sheets).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, pivot quickly, and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of or experience in the Jewish community is a plus.
- Willingness to adjust hours seasonally (e.g., High Holy Days) and occasionally staff Shabbat services.
- Warm, welcoming presence with a sense of humor and comfort engaging people of all ages.
