Description

Our client, The Tikvah Fund www.tikvahfund.org seeks to hire a full time Chief Development Officer (CDO) to help us strengthen, scale, and sustain their significant growth.

Over the past few years, they have built a remarkable development team. Working with them is a great privilege. They are master relationship-builders and true believers in Tikvah’s mission. They are both creative and strategic.

They need an experienced CDO to help lead, manage, and scale their development efforts as Tikvah moves from running great programs to building an enduring set of Jewish institutions. Reporting to the CEO, the CDO will also partner with their senior management team to lead Tikvah into the future.

We are excited to consider CDO candidates with diverse professional and civic backgrounds. This includes development professionals who have helped build other civic institutions; experienced lay leaders interested in working full-time for the Jewish people and Jewish state.

The right candidate will combine four key attributes:

•   A strong belief in Tikvah’s mission to advance serious ideas about the great challenges facing the Jewish people, to educate the next generation of Jewish and Zionist leaders, and to strengthen our two exceptional nations: America and Israel.
•   A proven ability to mobilize partners and supporters to invest in ideas-driven organizations.
•   The desire to join an entrepreneurial culture that is committed to building new programs and new institutions.
•   The ability to lead and manage an exceptional team.

* We will consider candidates based anywhere in North America, provided they have an ability and desire to spend considerable time at Tikvah’s main offices in New York City.

Qualifications:

•   Five years’ experience at an Executive Development position.
•   Proven success in closing Major Gifts
•   Demonstrated success in setting and executing a fundraising strategy that includes an annual multi-faceted campaign, as well as special campaign projects.
•   Strong leadership, management, and supervision skills that include the ability to motivate, influence, and hold the team accountable to high standards and goals.
•   Demonstrated organizational, public speaking and writing skills, good knowledge of technology and social media, managing large events are all essential to succeed.
•   Compassion and passion are important personality traits.
•   The ideal candidate must possess a deep familiarity with and passion for Jewish philanthropy.
•   Self-confidence, high energy, a “can-do” personality and a passion to successfully accomplish established team goals.
•   Exceptional reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including an ability to translate ideas and concepts into clear, actionable items.
