Position Summary

The Alumni Engagement Coordinator primary responsibility is to engage and communicate former campers, staff, and supporters in meaningful ways. This role involves nurturing relationships, organizing events, managing data, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure the success of data gathering, alumni initiatives, and milestone celebrations. This position is also responsible for leading the planning and execution of Camp Interlaken's 60th-anniversary celebration, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external lay-partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Alumni Engagement:

    • Strategically locate and connect with Camp Interlaken alumni through various channels, including external companies, advertising, social media, email, and alumni networks.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with alumni, encouraging ongoing involvement and support of camp initiatives.
    • Regularly communicate updates, news, and events to the alumni community via newsletters, social media, and other platforms.

Database Management:

    • Oversee the organization and maintenance of the alumni database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of alumni records.
    • Regularly update contact information, employment details, and engagement history of alumni.

Alumni Events:

    • Plan, coordinate, and execute alumni events throughout the year, including coffees, virtual events, in-person events, and special gatherings.
    • Foster a sense of community amongst the alumni.

Alumni Visits:

    • Facilitate arrangements for alumni visits to Camp Interlaken, including coordinating schedules, access, and activities.
    • Provide personalized experiences for alumni during their visits, showcasing the camp's impact and evolution.

Anniversary Celebration:

    • Lead the planning and execution of Camp Interlaken's 60th-anniversary celebration, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external lay-partners.
    • Develop a comprehensive event program that honors the camp's legacy, engages & stewards alumni,  inspires financial support, and generates excitement for the future.

Collaboration:

    • Work closely with lay leaders and volunteers to enlist their support in alumni engagement efforts and event planning.
    • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Development (FRD) team to identify opportunities for alumni giving and support fundraising initiatives.
    • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs)

  1. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  2. Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
  3. Proficiency in database management and familiarity with CRM systems.
  4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a collaborative and flexible attitude.
  5. Passion for the mission and values of Camp Interlaken, with a genuine interest in connecting with alumni, preserving camp traditions, and inspiring sustainability.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-profit Management, Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, or related field or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in alumni relations, event planning, or community engagement preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting; offsite event preparation and leadership will be required.
