Job Summary

Congregation Tikvat Jacob (CTJ) is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our supportive and dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be a primary steward of our congregant financial relationships, ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of all receivables. You will play a key part in maintaining the financial health of our community while providing exceptional support to our members.

Responsibilities 

Your responsibilities will be grouped into three core areas:

  1. ?Financial Management & Reporting
    1. Manage the full lifecycle of congregant receivables, including annual billing, one-time payments, and recurring payment plans.
    2. Ensure the timely and accurate processing and allocation of all incoming funds (check, cash, credit card, ACH).
    3. Maintain the integrity of financial data by performing daily synchronization between ShulCloud and QuickBooks.
    4. Prepare and distribute monthly and annual member statements, along with ad-hoc reports for leadership as required.
    5. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in bank reconciliations, ensuring financial accuracy.

  2. ?Member Support & Engagement
    1. Serve as the primary point of contact for congregants regarding billing inquiries, payments, and account questions, providing best-in-class customer service.
    2. Proactively communicate with members regarding their accounts, fostering positive and trusted relationships.
    3. Maintain confidential and accurate member files with the utmost discretion.

  3. Team Collaboration & Guidance 
    1. Partner closely with the Accounting Manager and Executive Director, providing clear updates and escalating issues as needed.
    2. Provide guidance to data entry staff to ensure consistency and accuracy.
    3. Identify opportunities to improve AR processes and enhance efficiency within our financial systems.

Teamwork

  • Effectively communicate with the Accounting Manager and Executive Director as needed.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to data entry staff members.
  • Undertake other tasks and/or projects as required to support the wider CTJ Team.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or at least 4 years equivalent office work experience as an Accounts Receivable Specialist or similar role.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams etc)
  • Comfortable working with technology and productive within a remote work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Superb time management skills and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Self-motivated and adaptable
  • Positive attitude towards learning new skills and systems
  • Strong organizational & mathematical skills
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping principles
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of electronic banking and other financial management products and services
  • Accounting, Banking and/or Bookkeeping experience (Quickbooks)
  • Experience in accounts receivable (or accounts payable)
  • Experience in driving process improvement
  • Synagogue knowledge and experience
  • Experience with ShulCloud software

Salary

$28 per hour
