Shalom Bayit is seeking a dynamic Jewish educator to lead Bay Area programs for men on healthy Jewish masculinity and abuse prevention. The MenschUp facilitator will be a driver of change in Jewish communal response to abuse, leading individual, group, and communal efforts to address men’s role in preventing gender-based violence. The ideal candidate is an effective violence prevention educator who understands men’s role in upending sexism, has a solid background in anti-oppression frameworks and anti-sexist men’s work, and is committed to building healthy masculinity through a Jewish lens. In addition to facilitation of men’s groups and workshops, responsibilities include program planning, public speaking, building strategic relationships, coordinating educational campaigns, working closely with clergy and community leaders, and direct training/education. This is an exciting opportunity to innovate content and help shape the future direction of Shalom Bayit’s MenschUp program, building male allyship and community engagement. Based at our East Bay hub, the postion requires some SF Bay Area travel for in-person programs as well as some zoom/hybrid programming.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design & implement outreach strategies to connect Bay Area Jewish men to MenschUp
• Provide training and education on healthy masculinity within a Jewish framework
• Facilitate MenschUp minyans, educational programs, staff training at Jewish organizations
• Respond to requests for speakers, training, and individual MenschUp program inquiries

• In collaboration with MenschUp advisors, design curriculum updates catering to diverse communities of men that amplify and build on existing core workshop content
• Plan and implement annual MenschUp social media outreach campaigns
• Increase engagement of men in Shalom Bayit activities, leadership opportunities, and community accountability efforts that help move the needle on the Jewish community’s response to abuse
• Steward external relationships with Jewish agencies, community groups, and potential supporters to increase communal engagement with our work
• Work with MenschUp Advisors and Ambassadors to plan strategic program directions

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In collaboration with colleagues, support interdisciplinary projects, major agency functions and public events; advance racial equity and other transformative justice initiatives; attend weekly team meetings; advance Shalom Bayit’s strategic goals; promote agency success.
• Represent the organization publicly
• Maintain accurate records and program statistics
• Perform other duties necessary to the function of agency programs

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate is an effective violence prevention educator who can passionately convey men’s role in upending sexism, has a solid background in anti-oppression frameworks and anti-sexist men’s work, and is committed to building healthy masculinity through a Jewish lens. Candidates should have demonstrated effectiveness working with men and community leaders. Familiarity with Bay Area Jewish community preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge, understanding and experience with men’s work and/or domestic violence prevention, and ability to articulate that work through a Jewish lens
2. Excellent training and public speaking skills
3. Experience in Jewish communal organizing, Jewish education, and/or curriculum development
4. 40-hour domestic violence training, in accordance with CA State law (can be provided after hire)
5. Ability to work with diverse populations, including a wide range of cultural and religious beliefs, class backgrounds, sexual and gender orientations, ages, and abilities
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, small team environment and crisis-oriented service organization;
7. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
8. Ability to create and manage own schedule and organizational systems
9. Commitment to Shalom Bayit’s philosophy, mission and vision; and desire to work in a small social change organization dedicated to empowering women

JOB LOCATION
San Francisco Bay Area. Partial remote work is possible; the position will require some work from our East Bay hub as well as regular Bay Area travel for in-person trainings and events post pandemic throughout our service area.
