Job Summary

This position is a reduced full time position of 32 hours per week and is benefits eligible.  The position is available now.

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Generalist also provides for the well-being of the school’s employees playing an integral role in the day-to-day of the faculty, administrative staff, security and daily substitute staff. 

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, DCFS training, et al.
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions, collaborating with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Posts job openings, recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions including offer letters, conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Conducts new hire orientation.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations including FMLA, ADA, EEO, Worker’s Compensation and other; recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Semimonthly payroll entry.
  • Assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and payroll system.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field desired
  • 3+ years prior HR experience 
  • SHRM-CP a plus
  • Paylocity experience a plus

 

Salary60,000.00 - 80,000.00 Annual
