Cantor – Part Time @ Temple Beth Sholom Sarasota, FL
Temple Beth Sholom is a growing, egalitarian Conservative synagogue of approximately 350 families in the cultural hub of Florida’s west coast. We are searching for an innovative, inspirational and engaging Cantor who will create an environment in which music enriches our worship and celebrations inviting all congregants to participate. The Cantor will need the skills necessary to Leyn and chant Haftarot. The Cantor will co-officiate with the Rabbi for all Shabbat and holiday services two (2) weeks prior to Rosh Hashanah through Shavuot. An ability to play the guitar and/or other instruments is a plus.
There is a real desire for our Cantor to organize music for Simchat Torah, Purim and the Passover Seder. We are also open to exploring additional responsibilities based upon our needs and the skills and desire of the Cantor to accept additional duties.
- Ability to co-officiate at Shabbat and Holiday services with our Rabbi
- Knowledge of and passion for both traditional and contemporary Conservative Jewish liturgy including Nusah for Shabbat and the High Holidays
- Ability to organize daveners and Torah Readers for each Shabbat/Holiday
- Prior Cantorial experience
We are looking to fill this position in May 2022.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and responsibilities
