ROLE: The seasoned Fundraiser is a key member of Olami’s Development team, and uses exceptional interpersonal skills and keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with new and existing donors, and stewards gifts.

Working with the VP of Development and key members of the Board, the Fundraiser will bear the primary responsibility for identifying an optimal pool of high-capacity prospects, supporters, and donors and will represent the organization at key donor meetings, articulating the organization’s innovative programmatic achievements and increasing their interest and financial commitment to Olami.

OLAMI serves over 50,000 students per year in more than 320 locations worldwide, providing programming and educational opportunities that strengthen Jewish identity and ensure Jewish continuity.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include, but are not limited to):

Direct Fundraising & Related Initiatives

  • Work with the VP of Development to develop a portfolio of low-mid tier donors in both existing and untapped donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, grow relationships with donors (both existing and new) in target areas, engage them year-round with Olami’s mission with inspiring opportunities that organically build passion and interest.
    • Work collaboratively with the VP of Development and Board to identify donor leads.
  • Engage in direct fundraising activities: ex: meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish rapport with them and ensure they are aware of Olami’s programs, services, special projects, and events.
    • Cultivate relationships by following touch-point guidance provided by the VP of Development.
    • Utilize marketing materials that showcase tangible accomplishments that Olami donor base care about and of which they can be proud.
    • Design exciting fundraising opportunities that appeal to donors interest, per the vision of the VP of Development.
  • Manage and steward gifts and track pledges and ensure donor follow-up to secure commitments. Ensure necessary recordkeeping, reporting and donation acknowledgement.



Genuine embrace of Olami’s mission. Engaging and professional interpersonal and writing skills with a strong social network. Knowledge, experience and a positive track record in fundraising techniques and development strategies. The skills to work with and motivate staff and donors. Preferred, knowledge of fundraising database and systems. “Self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls. Ability to plan and execute donor meetings, special events. Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals. Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. Must be available to work daytime, evening and weekend hours.

Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in a hybrid setting with in-person and remote activities.

Includes frequent travel to donor meetings in the tri-state area. Occasionally called upon to work evenings, weekend and odd schedules when outreach is best accomplished.
