Sid Jacobson JCC (SJJCC) is the only full-service JCC on Long Island's North Shore in Nassau County. SJJCC provides cutting-edge recreational, health, fitness, educational, cultural arts, and social services programs. SJJCC is a national leader in providing care for those suffering from chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, and other degenerative illnesses. In addition, SJJCC offers year-round social, recreational, fitness, and vocational programs for children and teens, and adults living with special needs. SJJCC is Long Island's hub that addresses social justice, uses social action to better our society, and provides volunteers with the opportunity to give back.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Licensed Social Worker for the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center.
SJJCC is seeking a full-time Licensed Social Worker who will be part of an evolving and growing collaborative team that is responsible for providing care and support to cancer survivors in any stage of their diagnosis within the greater community. The social worker will bring compassion to help better the lives of cancer survivors and a desire to learn about this population. The multi- pronged position includes performing intakes, case management, short-term counseling and facilitate discussion groups. In addition, they will keep records and statistics, support director with administrative tasks, link the community to the Cancer Wellness Center by developing relationships with high stake providers within the cancer community. Be a vital, proactive and collaborative member of the NMCWC team. This is an in-person position in Nassau County (East Hills), Long Island.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a positive outlook, who is able to perform independently and as part of a cohesive team. This person will interface with fellow JCC staffers and members of lay leadership. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail.

How You’ll Help Us Be Successful:
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite, especially excel and be able to multi-task
  • Provide short-term individual counseling
  • Conduct intakes
  • Case Management
  • Facilitate discussion groups
  • Collaborate with different agency departments and lay leaders
  • Spearhead and coordinate the development and implementation of an array of educational programs and initiatives (in community, remote and onsite) through careful planning and scheduling, material preparation, evaluation/reporting and professional delivery
  • Responsible for organizing and conducting presentations, representing the Cancer Wellness Center at local meetings, committees and community outreach programs in person, via telephone and/or email or virtually to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the cancer wellness center to the community
  • Update database reflecting the community resources, doctor’s offices, and cancer organizations.
  • Maintains up-to-date resource registry to be used when assisting clients in need of services within the community.
  • Promote Cancer Wellness Center on social media
  • Assist with various fundraising events, including: Stronger Than Cancer 5ka
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Licensed Master Social Worker or higher
