Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Hospitality and in partnership with the Director of Auxiliary and Logistics, the Sr. Manager of Programming and Events is responsible for all facets of the client experience on the Brandeis Bardin Campus (BBC) of American Jewish University. Provide a high level of support and service to existing and new retreat, conference, programs and special event clients; coordinating event programming, housing, meeting space and foodservice needs. Direct supervision of specialized programming managers: Outdoor Ropes Specialist & Jewish Experiential Educator.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead event programming and logistics planning for retreats, educational programs and special events on the BBC campus. Providing full cycle customer service to all clients, while adhering to all University business practices and protocols. Day of event representative, or if unavailable responsible for the assignment of coordinator.
  • Event and contract management; includes coordination of campus facility tours, negotiation of pricing & rates/fees, design of programming and logistical needs, coordination of internal partners to provide services, scheduling of resources, collection of payment.
  • Draft curriculum & develops education programs for schools & retreat participants, which can include the specialized Outdoor Ropes and Jewish Experiential Educator programming offered on the BBC campus only.
  • Evaluates current procedures and protocols for servicing all aspects of programming & events
  • Manage the Outdoor Ropes Specialist and Jewish Experiential Educator managers. Works with them on the program design, training goals and delivery and staffing of their programs
  • Collaborates with internal partners on interdepartmental programs and events that are either client facing or internal for the University
  • Work with Sr. Director of Hospitality in collaboration with Marketing to develop marketing strategies for business growth. Develops promotional materials for programs & event portfolios
  • Work with online systems such as EMS (reservations system), All Seated, CRM, Microsoft Suite
  • Responsible for the coordination and management of events calendar
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Programming and event production for Jewish and non-Jewish events and activities
  • Follow instructions, procedures, and policies,
  • Partner and collaborate with internal and external partners to support the successful execution of events on campus
  • Ability to develop and grow relationships with external partners
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Evening, weekend & holiday days/hours as required

Qualifications and Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing or Business a plus
  • Minimum 5-7 years related work experience or training; Knowledge and experience working within Jewish community, understanding needs and rituals for services & life cycle events
  • Minimum 2-3 years supervisory experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to get along with others
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners both verbally and in writing
  • Requires ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Requires initiative and good judgment
  • May be required to lift items 15-20lbs

Job Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Pay Range: $70k-$80k
