Background

Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple is a Reform congregation in Cleveland, Ohio that strives to perpetuate Jewish tradition and strengthen Jewish lives through lifelong learning, worship, social action, and deeds of loving kindness. We are seeking a strategic, ambitious, proactive, and entrepreneurial Executive Director who will be responsible for all operations including finance, facilities, marketing, and development. Our ideal candidate can effectively work with a wide variety of stakeholders, handling different pressures and priorities simultaneously, while partnering with and managing others to get the best out of those around them. We are looking for someone with a bias toward execution, but also comfortable with analysis and iteration -- always striving to bring our work to a higher level.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Management

• Serves as chief operating officer and manages the day-to-day operations of the ACFT

• Provides thoughtful and visionary leadership to support, guide and advance the organization’s mission

• Joins with the Clergy team to execute an actionable strategic plan; develops the critical path to implementation

• Actively engages as a partner with the Clergy on the senior leadership team

• Communicates effectively with the Board by providing members with all necessary information in a timely manner in order to make effective, informed decisions

• Develops and executes membership strategy that addresses both retention of and acquisition of members

• Develop and execute technology strategy to support ACTF’s operations with a lens toward growth and advancing the ACFT mission

Operations

• Oversees the physical plant and coordinates all events and programs on site

• Creates and oversees business systems to ensure optimal efficiency for temple operations

• Assures physical security for facility, staff, Clergy, members, and guests on premise

• Effectively uses and manages digital and social media to augment the congregation’s values and culture

• Manages seamlessly the operations of congregation membership

Finance

• Responsible for ACFT’s fiscal management

• Ensures sound financial management practices and accurate reporting systems are in place

• Develops and manages annual budget in conjunction with the Board and Finance Committee

• Reviews monthly financial statements and works with Finance Committee to present financial reports to the Board

Development

• Works closely with the Board and Clergy to create appropriate fundraising strategies and goals, executes the associated activities

• Identifies grant opportunities, oversees, and writes grant reports and proposals • Develops and cultivates relationships, with community members, potential donors, and foundations

• Participates in solicitations of donors when appropriate

Human Relations and Administration

• Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing coaching, growth, and personal development for staff and volunteers

• Builds trusting relationships across multiple constituencies including Clergy, Board, staff, congregants, and community

• Creates a warm, inclusive, and high-performing culture to ensure the office and facilities are welcoming to and safe for staff, Clergy, congregants, and visitors

• Consistently strives to infuse the values of ACFT in all interactions

• Manages and coordinates non-clergy staff which includes education, finance, marketing, and facilities

Community Relations

• Develops and maintains community partnerships with the general and Jewish community

• Responsible for representing ACFT in the community at large and promoting the ACFT brand

Marketing

• Oversees all member, internal and external communications

• Maintain and ensure brand integrity

Qualifications

• Proven manager who demonstrates core competencies of organization, collaboration, strategic thinking, creative problem solving and innovation while providing clear communication, good listening, and people management

• Ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities

• Proven track record managing financial operations for an organization

• Strong, collaborative manager with strategic and organizational skills

• Strong and capable partner with Clergy, staff, and lay leadership who sustains, enhances, and advances the vision and mission ACFT

• Experience deploying and managing technology to enhance and grow business processes, support collaboration, communication, and engagement

• Experience building teams and creating a high-performing culture

• Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of work experience including significant management experience

Compensation

Competitive package commensurate with level of experience
