Position Summary

The Weekend Administrative Host position is a part-time employee of Temple Akiba. This position provides administrative support and customer service to our members and guests.  As the person who staffs our front reception area Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Sundays, the Weekend Administrative Host maintains a proactive role as a welcoming, service-oriented team member for the entire temple, and provides support to all weekend services, programs, and events.  In addition, the Weekend Administrative Host at times handles confidential and sensitive information.  The position reports to the Executive Director, but will also take direction from Clergy and other Temple Directors. 

  

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary weekend contact for telephone, mail, Internet, and in-person inquiries and ensures that all inquiries are immediately addressed and/or forwarded to an appropriate
  • Staff the reception desk, answer all telephone lines in a pleasant and courteous manner
  • Greet and warmly welcome all members and guests
  • Be present at Friday night Shabbat, Saturday morning B’nai Mitzvah Services, and Sunday morning Religious School sessions as well as all weekend rentals or Temple events
  • Manage the Sanctuary sounds system and live streaming of our regular Friday night Shabbat and Saturday B’nai Mitzvah services and ensure the sanctuary is properly set and ready including lights, AC, and sound system as well as placing Shabbat items in the proper location and the Yahrzeit list, Sisterhood and Men’s Group B’nai Mitzvah gifts and Temple certificates on the Bima
  • Work with Temple Janitorial to ensure the Social Hall is set and ready for Oneg Shabbat including tables, coffee set-up, and refreshments, and communicate directly with the Janitorial Staff for any changes or cleaning needs in the Sanctuary, Social Hall, or restroom areas.
  • Attend all staff meetings, workshops, and other designated meetings and events as assigned.
  • Maintains the highest quality of courtesy, friendliness and service excellence toward members, visitors, and staff.
  • Understand and support Temple Akiba’s mission, vision, and values
  • Work effectively with all staff members
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal/telephone communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, work independently, take iniative, and follow through on programs and projects
  • Analyze and resolve problems/situations demonstrating sound judgment and common sense
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365, Google Drive, ShulCloud)
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn Jewish Holidays, practices, traditions, and life cycle events
  • Ability to use zoom and other live streaming programs

 

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • A high school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of successful experience in administrative and clerical support
  • Availability to work Friday afternoon and evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and an occasional Monday for staff meetings (staff meeting schedule to be provided)
Salary20.00 - 25.00 Hour
