The Youth Engagement Coordinator (YEC) coordinates, develops and oversees and leads as appropriate, weekly programs as well as oversees the Temple’s youth groups, including USY and Kadima.

The YEC will foster a supportive, creative, and dynamic setting for all programs, working collaboratively with the Youth Committee, USY and Kadima youth group advisors, Torah Time (young children's Shabbat morning program)director/leader, the Teen Shabbat Lunch and Learn program facilitator, and the Shorashim Religious School program housed at HPCT-CAE.

This is a full-time position (32 - 40 hours per week), and some evening, Saturday, Sunday and yom tov hours.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Oversee Shabbat morning youth services
    • Coordinate mini-minyan (ages 5 – 11)
    • Identify and develop additional programs that may be needed
  • Oversee the USY and Kadima Youth Programs
    • Provide guidance to the USY and Kadima Advisors
  • Plan, promote and deliver regularly scheduled programs, for each of three youth cohorts, between Sept. 2025 – June 2026
  • Outreach to Temple-affiliated and unaffiliated Highland Park area families with youth to engage them and their children in Temple programs
  • Program responsibilities include:
    • Record maintenance, including registration and budget information
    • Logistics, including ordering program refreshments and materials
    • Program promotion, including creating promotional materials
    • Outreach to the community beyond HPCT-CAE
  • Develop and run youth programs for Haggim (Purim, Pesach and Shavuot), including teen sessions and coordinating with Torah Time director/leader 
  • Present
    • A brief monthly report to the Temple Board of Trustees, summarizing program participation
    • A bi-annual written report with suggestions and recommended program modifications.
  • Bi-annual program evaluation with parents

The successful candidate:

  • Minimally, holds a bachelor’s degree with a BA in Education, Judaic studies or comparable experience
  • Has experience in creating and implementing innovative and fun learning experiences
  • Is skilled at engaging with teens, young children and parents
  • Is skilled at using social media and other modalities to promote events
  • Has knowledge of community networks for outreach purposes
