Finance Operations Coordinator

Center for Jewish Life- Princeton Hillel (CJL)

Role Overview

Make your mark in a mission driven non-profit as a member of our dedicated staff team at the Center for Jewish Life – Princeton Hillel (CJL).  As Finance Operations Coordinator, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth functioning of CJL and implementation of its strategic goals.  In this new position, you will report to the Director of Institutional Advancement. The Finance Operations Coordinator will be the chief internal manager of CJL’s financial operations, ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and consistently in compliance with university guidelines and general accepted accounting principles (GAAP). As you develop and implement strategies and best practices to improve the organization you will play an important role in enabling CJL to fulfill its mission to help students thrive while ensuring that CJL uses donor-contributed funds and grants with integrity and commitment to our organization’s values.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage P&L oversight, tracking expenses and revenue with external accountant and senior staff to ensure correct categorization
  • Approve reimbursements, invoice and bill payments with accountant and CJL Administrator (when needed) including check writing and processing account transfers
  • Partner with CJL Administrator to manage use of university-held accounts and oversee staff compliance with university financial procedures
  • Serve as point person for CJL staff on budget-related questions
  • Coordinate annual budgeting process with Senior Staff and Finance Chair
  • Create and maintain annual financial calendar with input from CJL’s Finance Chair
  • Serve as liaison with CPA for annual financial review, 990, gathering needed information directly from Director of Advancement and providing to CJL’s accountant
  • Manage insurance contract renewals and all leases, meeting and communicating with insurance brokers to ensure up to date and sufficient insurance coverage
  • Assist with review of existing policies and development of new policies (e.g. HR, financial) and organizational systems that support CJL’s financial operations
  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Information and Technology for computers and tech-related projects

 What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • 3+ years of experience with management of budgets and finances, organizational administration and operations in a non-profit organization or academic institution 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Fluency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs and other similar systems; familiarity with Quickbooks and donor or customer relation databases
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel (local and remote) and to work independently
  • A positive can-do attitude and drive for excellence
