Temple Beth El of Boca Raton, FL is seeking an innovative and dynamic team player to be our Youth Engagement Coordinator for our K-12th grade program of 500+ students. This candidate should exude warmth, creativity, and a commitment to Jewish life through relationship and community building, engaging our youth with a high level of creative programming.

In this role, the Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing innovative programs and outreach strategies to engage, support, and empower our Youth Program while building connections between participants. 

In addition, the Youth Engagement Coordinator will develop and gather materials,  and contribute to events and activities designed to expand and deepen the understanding of youth and young adults on Reform Jewish practice including Jewish values, rituals and customs. This is a highly creative position that also incorporates administrative, managerial, and supervisory responsibilities. The Youth Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Director of Youth and Family Education and Engagement to envision, shape, and implement initiatives where necessary in the programmatic life of our congregation.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, which include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Planning, publicizing and implementing with the Director of Youth and Family Education and Engagement a balanced program of activities which includes but is not limited to, leadership development, Judaic themes and community building and appeals to the various interests of our participants. These events must fit within the budget outlined.
  • Acts as an integral part of the Youth Engagement Program by ensuring that our youth participants are consistently supported and supervised, and that the needs of youth engaged in programming, activities and services are met.
  • Organize and purchase with approval from Director of Youth and Family Education and Engagement, snacks and supplies for all youth programming/events/sites including meals and transportation.
  • With the Director of Youth and Family Education and Engagement manage the hiring and supervision of chaperones for all Tribal Gatherings, if needed.
  • Maintain calendar for all Tribal Gathering and youth events and coordinate facility use.
  • Familiarize oneself with program budget and works to properly utilize budget line items to support programming.
  • Create and maintain accurate records and data for all youth participants. Ensure accessibility and timely follow up of inquiries or concerns to all part-time advisors, chaperones, youth participants and parents.
  • Responsible for attendance of youth participants for all BOFTY events held in or out of campuses, within the State of Florida; including NFTY-STR events, and NFTY North American events. Promote and encourage inter-youth group contacts among the youth groups of the area and region.
  • Provides ongoing support to youth participants in leadership endeavors within Temple Beth El and the Jewish Community.
  • Liaison between BOFTY, Temple Beth El and Clergy for combined programming.
  • Ensure that all staff and youth participants operate in accordance with youth programs policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Youth Education and Engagement

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to create and maintain authentic relationships with kids and adults of all ages
  • Ability to engage parents and congregational leadership as partners in youth and teen work
  • Ability to bring new ideas and implement them
  • Ability to utilize computer skills, software and work with databases; some experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, meet pressing deadlines and anticipate needs
  • Ability to work with youth and young adults and have experience in youth programming
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Attends in-service training, when necessary
  • Model appropriate conduct and values

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Jewish education, education and/or Judaic studies preferred and/or at least three years of related experience working with youth and teens in a congregational and/or camp setting
  • Comfortable with the Hebrew language and understanding of Jewish customs and values, and working in a Reform environment
  • Knowledgeable of the Jewish calendar and customs
  • Experience with NFTY or other Jewish youth movements preferred
  • Child CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to acquire

 

This position is an Exempt, Full-Time (40 hour per week) plus weekend events – Days/Time are flexible. This position is primarily located on our Beck Family Campus in Boca Raton, Florida at 9800 Yamato Road. Salary is commensurate with relevant work experience. All candidates must pass a Level II background screening and a drug test in order to be considered for this position.
