TOP Jewish Foundation (“TOP”) serves as the community foundation for several Florida Jewish Federations/communities including Tampa, Orlando, Pinellas, Naples and Fort Myers. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, TOP functions as the planned giving department assisting individuals and organizational donors in our various communities. TOP is headquartered at the beautiful Tampa JCCs & Federation Cohn Campus in Tampa, Florida and is seeking a full-time Director of Philanthropy to join our dynamic and growing organization.


Reporting to the Executive Director, the incoming Director of Philanthropy will be responsible to elevate Philanthropy in the communities that we serve. The Director of Philanthropy will be a seasoned professional who will grow TOP and strengthen the organization’s role as a trusted leader for our community organizations and donors. This position will consult with planned giving donors to help them imagine, design, and create a better world through use of their philanthropic resources. The Director of Philanthropy will work collaboratively with our member agencies managing their philanthropic efforts. This position collaborates with the TOP staff, lay leaders, fund holders, and partner agencies to develop and implement a planned giving strategy with a focus on planned gifts, legacy gifts and stewardship. This position will maintain and enhance relationships and interact with members of the planned giving and grantmaking communities locally and nationally. 


  • Plan and execute of TOP’s planned giving priorities, strategies, recognition, operations, and marketing, in collaboration with the TOP team. 
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned gifts including, but not limited to Donor Advised Funds, and Agency Funds, Endowment Funds, Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
  • Steward all agencies and donors whose funds are under our care.
  • Work collaboratively with professional and volunteer philanthropic leadership in all communities.
  • Serve as Legacy Program Coordinator working directly with partnering organizations who are committed to the Life & Legacy Program™. 
  • Maintain and enhance relations with professional wealth management and estate planning community and cultivate these sources for business referrals.
  • Serve as staff lead for educational programs and appreciation events. 
  • Ensure appropriate recognition of donors.
  • Advise fundholders about community needs and opportunities; help them establish philanthropic goals, priorities, and metrics. 
  • Maintain records and policies and ensure compliance of planned gifts, bequests and fund agreements in accordance with TOP’s policies. 
  • Collaborate with TOP accounting staff to ensure planned gifts are appropriately reviewed and processed, including annual distributions of restricted endowments. 
  • Collaborate with TOP team on the creation of a marketing and communications plan; oversee implementation of marketing and communications plan including social media.
  • Stay up to date on planned giving vehicles and trends; provide training and solicitation material.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree or advanced certification in Nonprofit Management, Legal, Business, Finance, or other-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success in securing business relationships and/or planned gifts.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and experience in the fields of planned giving or financial or tax planning. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Jewish culture and the organized Jewish community are required, along with the ability to present a strong and recognizable commitment to the enrichment of a sustained Jewish community.
  • Exceptional donor-relations skills: proven ability in creating strategies to cultivate prospects and channel donor engagement. 
  • Experience with new donor outreach, stewardship, education and/or events management.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept and apply feedback, follow leadership and align with organizational decisions.
  • Self-motivated; able to multi-task with excellent attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and self-motivated.  
  • Works well collaboratively in a team environment.  
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks.

  • Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20-pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment. 


  • Starting salary $80,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience.
  • Medical insurance coverage with 85% of the premium cost paid. 
  • 401K program with a 4% match.
