Development Professional

MJE seeks a proactive, self-motivated, and flexible Development Associate/Executive. The candidate will be responsible for fundraising and engagement strategy across multiple portfolios and must be able to work effectively independently and in a team setting, and alongside MJE leadership, both volunteer and professional. This role requires a team-player with the ability to multi-task, trouble-shoot, and be a forward-thinker.

Major Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and engage individual and corporate donors in support of campaign growth. Develop and implement appropriate fundraising techniques, including one-on-one solicitations, fundraising events, speaker programs, firm campaigns and family engagement.
  • Identify and cultivate donors, maximize opportunities for relationship building, and leverage lay leaders to increase dollars raised and expand donor base. Develop and implement a plan to assure quality lay leader pipeline for future campaigns.
  • Develop and pursue major gifts strategy for high-capacity donors/prospects to support philanthropic commitment and gift growth through annual, capital, and/or planned giving.
  • Educate donors and prospects about MJE’s mission and work one-on-one cultivation activities, including agency site visits, volunteer projects, missions, educational programs, fundraising events, corporate/industry briefings and other meaningful activities.
  • Oversee fundraising events, including securing honorees, managing tribute journal, managing event committees and lay involvement, interfacing with MJE office and external vendors, and developing strategy to convert event-driven major donors into annual donors.
  • Strategize with Founder regarding upping current donors 
  • Create monthly newsletter for donors 
  • Write grants.

Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, or sales experience in relevant industries, required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong customer service, strategic planning, negotiation, and consensus building skills.
  • Team player with the ability to multitask and handle multiple competing priorities, while pursuing individual assignments.
  • Creative, energetic, self-motivated, quick learner.
  • Knowledge of and interest in sports, media and entertainment industries a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Should be comfortable and adept at communicating and presenting in person and via digital/remote platforms.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $150,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
