Description

Congregation BJBE seeks a mission-driven communications professional to expand and improve the visibility and impact of our digital footprint and outgoing materials (newsletters, emails, publications). This position is a combination of strategy development and content production, with opportunities for growth. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with BJBE’s Clergy, Executive Director and Education Team. The ideal candidate is creative and nuanced, disciplined and professional, and passionate about these projects and work.

Job Requirements

  • Oversee and contribute to the development of all internal and external messaging for BJBE including talking points, publications, social media, website and fundraising content
  • Create compelling targeted written communications and appealing graphics 
  • Actively engage in and oversee elements of the redesign of BJBE’s website
  • Devise and implement strategies to drive traffic to the website and other digital platforms; create actionable digital content for all distribution channels
  • Monitor digital engagement and utilize data to inform engagement and communications strategies
  • Manage media relations, including cultivating media contacts, responding to media inquiries, preparing press releases and media advisories, and working with staff to determine the appropriate spokesperson, as needed
  • Maintain BJBE’s social media policy; ensure privacy policy and accessibility compliance within all communication channels
  • Work in collaboration with all BJBE departments—BJBE believes strongly in interdepartmental collaboration and expects all staff to work in close partnership with each other
  • Be present and support key engagement functions throughout the year as determined by the Executive Director

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-5 years progressive experience in communications 
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience with developing strategic communications to advance and achieve organizational goals with a strong emphasis on engagement; ability to translate strategy into plans of action
  • Attention to detail with very high quality standards and principles when it comes to brand integrity
  • Strong media relations experience with the ability to create traditional and digital media campaigns that produce engagement and positive impact
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills to express messages concisely and the ability to effectively interface with senior leadership, volunteers, and staff
  • Experience working on websites, intranets or other media to ensure quality, user-friendly, dynamic content
  • Experience with Constant Contact, Photoshop, ShulCloud, WordPress, Canva, Google and Social Media
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, external constituents and other organizations
