About the Position:

Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School seeks a dynamic, committed, creative individual to serve as a Lead Teacher in First Grade. The successful candidate will teach all general studies content areas (language arts, math, science, social studies) along with developmentally appropriate social skills in a first-grade classroom. This educator will work closely with the other members of the grade level team, including an assistant teacher, to create and implement high quality, engaging, project-based, multi-disciplinary instructional units.

  • Willing to be actively involved in community building events.
  • Experience teaching Readers and Writers Workshop from Teachers College a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement project-based, multi-disciplinary instructional units aligned with common core math, history and language arts standards as well as high quality STEM units aligned to NGSS standards.
  • Collaborate with grade level colleagues to plan, integrate, and enhance instruction in all curricular areas.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Attend and actively participate in all faculty meetings.
  • Participate in special school events including, but not limited to, Open House, Back to School Night, special student performances. Attendance at other community/school events is encouraged.

Requirements

Required Experience/Education:

  • Four-year degree from a college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education or related field.
  • A valid teaching credential is preferred, though not required.
  • 3-5 years previous teaching experience.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary. $65,000-$90,000 annually.
