ABOUT SOCIETY HILL SYNAGOGUE PLAYSCHOOL

Society Hill Synagogue Playschool is a welcoming, inclusive school for children ages 18 months-5 years old that embraces diversity in religion, ethnicity, race, and family structure. We currently serve approximately 60 students and their families and will be adding a sixth class in June 2022.

Our philosophy is child-centered and play-based. We believe that children learn through play in a safe and nurturing environment. We respect children as individuals and respond to their needs with compassion and dedication. Through planning and observation, our teachers and environment provide stimulating experiences designed to enrich the whole child, including social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.

We relish the opportunities for children to grow, socialize, and flourish in our indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the Paula Kline Learning Center, our historic synagogue building, and the natural environment in the beautiful Society Hill setting.

SYNAGOGUE OPERATIONS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In consultation with the synagogue’s COVID-19 Risk Mitigation and Safety Committee, composed of medical professionals and public health experts, we have implemented an updated, comprehensive health and safety policy and have invested significantly in air purification and ventilation systems, PPE, contactless thermometers, contactless hand sanitizer dispensers, and tents and other equipment for even more outdoor activities. Sanitization, always a high priority at the synagogue, has been adapted for COVID-19 prevention. All employees of Society Hill Synagogue are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and everyone ages 2 and older is required to wear a mask. A daily health screening is conducted prior to entry to the school.
