Position Summary

The UJA Manhattan Division engages donors through neighbor engagement, synagogue affiliation, community participation, and intergenerational experiences. No matter what age or stage a person is in life, the Manhattan Division is a go-to resource to connect with peers and change lives through meaningful volunteer projects, content-rich experiences, neighborhood-based networks, UJA Pride, community events, and leadership development.

 

The Center for Youth Philanthropy and Leadership (CYPL) at UJA sits in the Manhattan Division and provides an opportunity for teens to connect with UJA-Federation of New York and reach their full potential as leaders, volunteers, and philanthropists. This is done through a model of teen engagement that offers access to diverse programming within CYPL.

 

The Development Associate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and facilitation of The Philanthropic Advisory Council for Teens (PACT). PACT meets on eight Sundays throughout the year and offers high school students a foundation board experience where they will learn and practice the ABCs of fundraising, explore philanthropy through a Jewish lens, and discover the breadth and depth of UJA’s powerful work. The Development Associate will also be responsible for a general Manhattan Campaign fundraising portfolio. This position reports to the Manager of the Manhattan Division.

 

Major Responsibilities

· Provide support and work closely with the director of CYPL to participate in strategic thinking for the overall planning of the department, as well as curriculum planning to create meaningful experiential learning opportunities

· Implement a teen empowerment model throughout all programming

· Oversee recruitment, marketing, and interviewing of PACT applicants

· Implement and facilitate PACT programs: Council, Task Force, Senior Fellows, and Global Jewish Committee

· Attend all Sunday PACT sessions and events

· Oversee general Manhattan fundraising portfolio

· Maintain records of donor portfolios and evaluate progress regularly with supervisor

 

Competencies/Experience

· Experience in teen education, engagement, and programming

· Excellent relationship building, interpersonal skills, and customer-service orientation

· Ability to inspire and influence others

· Ability to work collaboratively with a team and to manage multiple tasks

· Strong written and verbal communication skills required, as well as active listening skills

· Knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community and a strong commitment and passion to the mission of UJA-Federation

· Entrepreneurial and self-starter

· Willingness to be flexible with time and to work on Sundays as needed

· Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems and work independently

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required

· Bachelor’s degree required

· Three years’ experience preferred
