Program/Communications Coordinator  

Beth Am Synagogue | Baltimore, Maryland

The Program/Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the logistics and execution of most adult synagogue programming to create a warm, caring, enriching and vibrant environment for our members to engage fully in the many opportunities provided at the synagogue. Tasks include working closely with the Director of Congregational Engagement and Programing to creating social media content, preparing advertising, coordinating with caterers, ordering supplies, and providing support during the events. The Program/Communications coordinator will serve as a member of Beth Am Synagogue’s Staff and will report to the Executive Director. Other responsibilities will include: 

 Roles & Responsibilities – including, but not limited to the following: 

  • Work closely with the Director of Congregational Engagement and Programming to plan and execute adult and family programing at the synagogue. 
  • Create regular email-based newsletters including preparation of basic graphic design, registration forms, and evaluation surveys. 
  • Prepare social media campaigns for programs including event pages, teaser campaigns, and photo documentation of events to share with the congregation. 
  • Coordinate with Kosher caterers to provide food for programming in accordance with Beth Am’s kashrut policy. 
  • Order and organize supplies for programming through various online and brick and mortar stores. 
  • Communicate with staff, lay leaders, and volunteers when needed throughout the preparation and execution of events.  
  • Communicate with prospective members and existing members to encourage attendance at events and follow up after participation.  
  • Assist in maintaining internal and external calendars for programs. 
  • Take minutes of weekly program meetings to record discussion and action items generated during the meeting.  
  • Organize and maintain inventory supplies, directions, and other items for storage for future or recurring programming.  
  • Maintain and order paper products and supplies needed for regular programming at the synagogue.

  • High standard of excellence, dedication, flexibility and a willingness to chip in wherever needed to get the job done.  
  • Willingness to have a flexible schedule dependent on the needs and timing of programs  

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2-5 years of work experience. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Constant Contact, etc. 
  • Knowledgeable of Jewish traditions and lifecycles. 
  • Some familiarity with graphic design with programs such as Canva and Adobe products. 
  • Comfort in using various social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
