The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix (JCRC) seeks an Associate Director to help fight Nazis in the desert.
The JCRC protects the Jewish community, and other vulnerable communities, in the Greater Phoenix area.
The Associate Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Board to foster education, dialogue, and advocacy within and outside the Jewish community, providing a collective voice in advancing justice, compassion and equity while combating antisemitism and hate.
This role requires area expertise, exemplary communications skills, and a passion for being the interface between within the Jewish community and with other organizations and groups.
The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director.
The Associate Director is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing designated programs, including education, social action, and interfaith relations. The Associate Director will help build and maintain key relationships and engage in dialogue with disparate community entities including civic and interfaith organizations, other nonprofits, and city, county, and state officials. A central component of the work will be focused on financial development, including fundraising and grant writing.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Executive Director and Board to proactively solicit sponsors, partners, and restricted gift donors.
Plan and coordinate community programs, which includes fiscal responsibility, partnering with other entities, and recruiting and overseeing volunteers, as needed.
Promote and coordinate interfaith engagement, including dialogue groups and programs to foster interactions between members of the broader Jewish community and other civic, ethnic, and faith communities.
Monitor and coordinate the response to antisemitic incidents in the community, as well as develop programs and relationships to proactively counter growing antisemitism across the political spectrum.
Work with partner organizations to educate on the dangers of antisemitism and lead the Jewish community response to this concern.
Engage in crisis management in the local community and beyond, including from antisemitic incidents.
Implement programmatic and educational events to focus advocacy on domestic Jewish affairs and on non-political issues surrounding Israel.
Assist with organizational marketing, artistic direction, branding, messaging, and design of graphics and videos including marketing technology.
Proactively contribute to internal and external organizational communications, including mailings, e-blasts, and social media.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Jewish traditional values, history, heritage, culture, and community.
Ability to remain focused and meet deadlines while working independently or in collaboration with team members in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
Proficiency with common business applications and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to communicate with confidence and to influence without authority.
Proven track record of leadership.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or consummate experience in marketing, business, or related fields. Master’s degree is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in areas such as financial development, event planning, community organizing, public policy, and non-profit administration.
Proven experience in non-profit marketing and communications.
Negotiable between part-time/full-time
Flexible hours and WFH/office hybrid; the office is in Scottsdale
Pay range: $55,000 - $65,000 based upon experience
Insurance contribution (75% in year one; full contribution following)
401(k) or IRA organizational match (after 1,000 hours)
