WTA is looking to hire an experienced faculty member with deep content-area expertise, who is a self-starter, well-organized and a team player. The candidate should have a warm demeanor, excellent command of progressive pedagogies, understanding and experience in project based learning with the strength of building the students’ skills as independent learners.

The successful candidate will…

  • Have experience teaching middle school subject-specific curriculum
  • Foster confidence and meaningful engagement with the subject matter
  • Be capable of learning and navigating an online educational platform and designing lessons in coordination with the platform
  • Prepare rigorous and engaging lessons through strong lesson planning
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
  • Design a curriculum for more advanced students, where appropriate, that will meet their pace of study and academic development 
  • Cultivate the social-emotional well-being of students by developing relationships and building a positive classroom culture
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be able to collaborate with parents, learning center, mentors, administrators, etc
  • (Math specific) Be able to teach high school level algebra to more advanced students
  • (Science specific) Be responsible for organizing and maintaining a materials-based classroom that reflects the curriculum and current work of students 
  • (Science specific) Possess knowledge of STEM education
  • Be comfortable conducting formal and informal evaluations
  • Work closely with direct supervisors to review student progress
  • Collect and analyze student work, assessments, and data to plan and support student needs
  • Be comfortable in the classroom, as well as with individualized and small-group instruction
  • Be prepared to mentor students
  • Conduct lunch, recess, and other school-related duties
  • Value input and feedback
  • Preferably have a Master’s Degree or Teaching Certification
