Position Title:  Associate Resource Navigator (Associate Case Manager)

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Department: Center for Jewish Care

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5+ hours/week, Non-Exempt)

Work Setting: Onsite

Reports To: Director, CJC/JCIS

Pay Rate: $18-$20/hour

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Center for Jewish Care team as the Associate Resource Navigator (Associate Case Manager). In this role, you have the opportunity to use your listening and organizational skills and social services experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Associate Resource Navigator plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by supporting our team in serving our clients. This position reports directly to the Director of Jewish Care and works closely with the Resource Navigators and the rest of the Center for Jewish Care team.


Client Support:

  • Facilitate client services as assigned by Resource Navigators through a compassionate and person-center trauma-informed framework, delivering food and holiday packages to clients, assisting with record keeping, obtaining and checking on necessary paperwork and documents from clients according to guidelines.
  • Answer CJC phone calls and monitor inbox. Respond to requests for information from callers, connecting with Resource Navigators or Director as appropriate
  • Work with Director to establish and maintain a network of services and resources for clients in San Diego County
  • Enter case notes into ETOi and assist with other client service tracking as needed
  • Assist with additional projects, as requested
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality guidelines

Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • 1-2 years’ experience working with the low-income population
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care
  • Significant familiarity with Jewish history, traditions, and culture
  • Ability to show an unconditional positive regard for clients who turn to JFS for support
  • Experience setting appropriate boundaries and limits when working with clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for professional and clear communication with clients, family, and community partners
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to work independently applying common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions or in making decisions
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to learn and use multiple, complex data systems
  • Comfort using Zoom or similar products to conduct virtual meetings and events

Additional Information Required Upon Hire:

  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, clean DMV record.
  • Must pass a background check.
