Summary:
The Religious Programming Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of Temple Beth Am (TBAM) and is responsible for delivering the following outcomes on behalf of the synagogue:

Job Description:

  • Create an annual calendar that includes Shabbat special programming and all other Jewish holidays based on planning discussions with clergy and the Executive Director, as well as previous years’ experiences. Develop a budget for these events and, upon completion, provide a recap for each project, including the budget, costs, attendance, and suggestions for improvements in future years. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be created during each project and kept with the recaps to ensure consistency.
  • Proactively generate and present ideas for the upcoming Temple calendar year, aiming to provide new and unique opportunities for TBAM, while considering the needs of various audiences (Day School, Religious School, Adults, Children, Teens, and Seniors). The Religious Programming Director will also engage with others in the URJ community to learn about successful projects in other synagogues or similar organizations to apply to our community.
  • Collaborate with the HUB Director and calendar facilitator to ensure that programming plans do not overlap or duplicate efforts for the same or similar groups within TBAM.
  • Ensure all programs under this role are scheduled, planned, promoted, and supported by internal staff and external vendors as needed to successfully execute each project.
  • Work with lay leaders and volunteers to provide adequate support for all projects, including Shabbat Committees, Volunteers, Education, and other relevant groups.Consult with Senior Rabbi regarding Jewish programs and their approval.
  • Oversee Pop Choir program 

Current Programs Include (but are not limited to):

    • Adult Education: Oversee programs such as Beth Am University, Lunch and Learns, Torah Study, Online Learning with the Rabbi, Special Guest Speakers, Scholar-in-Residence events, and other programs recommended by clergy or the Religious Programming Director. Work with the Assistant to Auxiliaries and the Board as needed on special projects within this category. Coordinate the Speaker Series logistics.

    • Shabbat: Collaborate with Shabbat and Religious Practices Committees, as well as Rambam Day School, to plan and execute special Shabbat services. All prior planning is the responsibility of the Religious Programming Director.

 

  • Holiday Programming: Recommend ideas, handle planning, and execute all holiday programs, including:
    • High Holiday Services, Slichot, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukkah, Purim, Tu Bish'vat, Passover, Yom HaShoah,  Shavuot, Yom Haatzmaut, and Yom Hazikaron. This includes organizing dinners, entertainment, registration, and other necessary details. Collaborate with clergy and other participants to provide run-of-show logistics so everyone is aligned.
    • Work with Miami Jews on outreach initiatives for young professionals.
