Our beloved long time Rabbi will be retiring at the end of June 2022.

Congregation Sons of Israel, Woodmere, a prestigious independent synagogue with a long and rich history and a dynamic leadership role in the Jewish community of the Five Towns is seeking a full time Rabbi.

We are a unique synagogue with 260 member families. Our synagogue has mixed seating and separate sections for men and women and services are conducted in a traditional manner. We house innovative and creative programs that serve children from 18 months old to Bar Mitzvah age. Our programming includes Ganoni- a licensed Hebrew immersion preschool, Religious School classes for children ages 4-12, Shalhevet, a Hebrew School for Israeli children and J-STARS, a Religious School track for children from Russian speaking families. In addition, we are the founders of Sulam-LI, the religious school for children with special needs. 

We are seeking a candidate who can:

  • Bring ruach to our sanctuary by inspiring our members
  • Appreciate and advance our warm tradition by attracting young families with children
  • Do outreach into the community to bring in diverse groups including Russian and Israeli children
  • Foster a sense of continuity as our Congregation moves forward
  • Be committed to Halacha
  • Be principled in public and private life

Responsibilities include: 

Officiating at Lifecycle Events

Pastoral Counseling

Visiting the sick and homebound

Teaching- Adults and Children

Attendance at Daily Minyanim

Seeking leadership roles in the local and greater Jewish community

Being involved in synagogue fundraising
