Hebrew Academy of Miami, a growing Modern Orthodox school in sunny Miami Beach, is seeking a qualified and passionate Middle – High School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Coordinator who is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive STEAM program for students in grades 6-12. The coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, administration, and external partners to create an innovative and engaging learning environment that promotes interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities: 

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement a cohesive STEAM curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Integrate STEAM principles across various subjects and grade levels.
  • Develop hands-on, project-based learning experiences that engage students and foster creativity.
  • Coordinate and oversee STEAM-related extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitions.

Teacher Support and Professional Development:

  • Provide ongoing professional development and training for teachers on STEAM education best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and integrate STEAM lessons and projects into their curricula.
  • Offer coaching and support to teachers in implementing STEAM initiatives.

Student Engagement and Support:

  • Foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students interested in STEAM fields.
  • Organize and facilitate STEAM events, such as science fairs, hackathons, and maker fairs.

Community and Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to enhance the STEAM program.
  • Coordinate guest speakers, field trips, and internships that provide real-world STEAM experiences for students.
  • Engage parents and the wider school community in supporting and promoting STEAM initiatives.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of the STEAM program.
  • Analyze data and feedback to continuously improve the STEAM curriculum and initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on program outcomes and progress for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, a STEAM-related field, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification or equivalent experience in education.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a STEAM-related subject.
  • Strong understanding of STEAM education principles and best practices.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
  • Passion for STEAM education and a commitment to fostering student growth and success.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Familiarity with makerspaces, coding, robotics, and other STEAM-related technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Innovative mindset and willingness to explore new educational approaches.
