At Adath Israel, we nurture a lasting understanding and appreciation of Jewish life and learning. We are searching for an enthusiastic and engaging 3-5th Grade teacher in Judaics & Hebrew. This position is part-time on Wednesday evenings during the school year. Adath Israel is an egalitarian conservative synagogue, home to a vibrant and open Jewish community, welcoming multi-faith and diverse families.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Classroom leadership - Give prepared Judaics & Hebrew lessons to class of students, effectively manage classroom, ensure student learning in a safe & fun environment
Planning and Preparation - Plan Judaics & Hebrew lessons according to school's curriculum, communicate weekly with parents regarding learning plans, topics, goals, etc.
Record-Keeping and Evaluation - Keep accurate records of student attendance, Evaluate knowledge and skill levels using appropriate assessments as requested by the Director, Communicate promptly with the Director and with students’ parents/guardians
Special Commitments and Projects - Supervise students during, and participate fully in enrichment activities such as Tefillah, Hebrew Through Movement, Shira (music), holiday celebrations, special events, Family Education programs, and field trips, Participate in scheduled faculty meetings
This is a part-time position, with the hours of Wednesdays 4:00-6:00PM, and other occasional varying hours depending on the needs of the position due to such things as religious school needs, Jewish holidays, and programs. The anticipated school year calendar runs until June 3, 2026
Requirements:
Knowledge of Jewish History, Culture, & Current Events
Hebrew reading skills, knowledge of Hebrew prayers & melodies
