Position Summary:

To provide operational funding and support for FamilyMatters through a variety of development efforts including, but not limited to, special events, Godparent Circle, donor stewardship, corporate sponsorships, community presentations, parlor meetings and social media. 

Role and Responsibilities

This person’s job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan and coordinate special events including luncheons, cocktail parties, card parties, golf outings, and other events with the goal of raising operational funds
  • Handle special event registration, seating, emails, committee support, silent auction and boutique preparation, event set up and execution, pre and/or post event tasks, and follow up as needed
  • Make public speaking presentations on and off site to new and existing donors and other community groups to raise funds and awareness and build the donor base throughout Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Explore potential fundraising in New York
  • Provide follow-up and donor stewardship to retain existing donors
  • Maintain accurate records, calendars, expenses, and income for each event
  • Supervise and assist in the creation of direct mail pieces, newsletters, updating brochures, fact sheets and other written materials
  • Organize the collection of data, information, and photographs for the annual newsletter
  • Support the Development Team with events as needed
  • Any other reasonable task requested by the Supervisor

Physical requirements:

Staff must be physically capable of driving an automobile in a safe manner.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field with a minimum of two years related experience in sales, marketing, communications and/or event planning. Or associate degree with a minimum of four years related practical experience
  • Written and verbal communications: ability to make formal and informal presentations, participate in meetings, write reports and correspondence
  • Computer proficiency in the areas of word processing, database, spreadsheets and light desk-top publishing for flyers and invitations, etc.
  • Knowledge of community resources and contacts
  • Ability to plan and coordinate special fundraising events
  • Experience with using fundraising databases preferred
  • Social media experience with Facebook and twitter
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required
  • Maintain Bodily Injury Liability insurance of $100,000 per claim, $300,000 per incident on their personal automobile when driving donors
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills, set objectives, do all necessary follow-up, and provide timely and accurate reports
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfil the requirements of the position
