Religious School Teacher

The Jewish Community School of Greater Los Angeles is an exciting and new collaboration of several synagogues located in the Los Angeles area beyond the city, to create the most engaging and exciting Jewish education program.  The focus of our Jewish Community School is to give our students the tools to become successful Jewish adults.  We prepare our students for the world by teaching them to cultivate compassion, empathy and practical skills through Project Based Learning paired with interdisciplinary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) education.  We teach our students how to weave their Jewish identity into their 21st-century selves to discover a life full of meaning.

You are a good candidate for this position if you are:

• Creative, growth-minded, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Jewish education
• Organized, detail oriented and a self-starter
• Comfortable interacting with students, teachers and parents

Job Details:

• On site teaching Sunday mornings 9:00am - 12:15pm at our Pomona Campus
• Plan written lessons
• Compose brief class update emails to families
• Attending staff meetings/professional development meetings (approximately every 6 weeks)
• Knowledge of and passion for teaching our Jewish practices and history
• Classroom management skills
• Ability to teach basic Hebrew skills is preferred
• Experience with Project Based Learning is preferred
