Title: Club Shemesh Jewish After School Site Coordinator

Reports to: Nomi Kornfeld

Position Type: Regular Full Time

Compensation: $65,000 + benefits  

Start Date: Immediately

Position Overview

 

Club Shemesh is a completely new Jewish Afterschool program for K-5th grade housed at Congregation Beth El, which successfully launched at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. This program is a unique place for kids to play and learn. We offer the services of a premium Afterschool program with a full, experiential Hebrew school curriculum. We are, as our name implies, an afterschool program meant to offer the fun (and “sun!”) of Jewish summer camp all year round.  

 

We are lucky to be a part of the Jewish After School Accelerator Program cohort, which offers dynamic resources, including coaching, curriculum, marketing assistance, and a national network of other Jewish aftercare programs, to help ensure our continued success and growth. 

 

 

The Club Shemesh Jewish After School Site Coordinator is responsible for the operations and management of a dynamic After School Community! This includes marketing to raise awareness about the program, creating infrastructure for procedures, implementing curriculum and lesson planning, hiring, developing and managing the teaching team, event planning, parent communications and engagement, enrollment, and student management. This individual should also be an experienced teacher who can also provide teaching assistance as needed.    

 

The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Program Development 

 

  • Continue to market and distribute information about the after school program to the local community, and to the broader community.
  • Attend required meeting as determined by the Director of Education k-12 at Beth El
  • Integrate the after school program with other programmatic offerings from your parent organization, being sure to create bridges from your preschool into your program by co hosting events.
  • Work with administrative staff and other professionals to develop and refine organization policies, procedures, and program initiatives.
  • Solicit and integrate stakeholder feedback, always aiming to get better.
  • Customize and hone curriculum, vision, and approach to the Afterschool Community program. This includes creating an intentionally community-centered environment.

 

Driving Enrollment

 

  • Follow up with leads generated by marketing efforts, and foster continual communication with interested leads
  • Recruit new families through online sources, Open Houses, Back to School night, festivals, open houses, and other promotional events (if possible).
  • Take families out to coffee, ice cream, etc. as part of the enrollment process to get to know families better and encourage them to enroll (if possible).
  • Lead tours for new families and interested parties.



 

Team Management

 

  • At times, the Club Shemesh Jewish After School Site Coordinator may also serve as a teacher depending on size of enrollment. 
  • Recruit, hire, and train Afterschool Community teachers, assistant teachers, and specialists as needed.
  • Plan and run Teacher Training at the beginning of the school year in concert with the other Afterschool Community Directors.
  • Plan and run staff meetings for the Afterschool Community team.
  • Support teachers as needed with lesson planning, discipline challenges, etc.
  • Support your team of teachers during operating hours.
  • Cultivate a positive, hardworking, supportive culture among staff.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers, as needed.

 

Family Relationship Management

 

  • Go above and beyond what parents expect including sending “happy emails,” regular and personal check-ins, etc.
  • Send weekly newsletters and program updates to Afterschool Community parents.
  • Communicate with parents during work hours by phone, email and in-person meetings about their children's experience.
  • Be the point of contact for all questions and information about the Club Shemesh Jewish Afterschool Community.

 

 

Operations Management

 

  • Handle any on-site facilities issues as they arise by notifying appropriate parties or taking action as needed, including playground and building maintenance if applicable.
  • Organize and maintain the administrative side of the Afterschool program (student/teacher files, enrollment documents, organization of lesson plans, etc.)
  • Purchase program supplies and snacks as needed.
  • Manage budget and spending for the Afterschool program.

 

 

School’s Out Camp Days

 

Plan and implement the programming and staff for all School’s Out Camp days throughout the semester. This includes:

  • Tracking student enrollment
  • Arranging for guest presenters and field trips (if applicable)
  • Creating and maintaining a daily schedule
  • Hiring, managing, and prepping the team for their roles 
  • Communications with parents and staff around camp logistics

 

Special Events

 

  • Create and execute co-sponsored events with other programs hosted by Congregation Beth El to help drive new enrollment 
  • Attend and help plan special events as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Strong background in education administration with a preference for experiential education
  • Proven ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement educational programs
  • Familiarity with university-level educational standards and practices

Compensation

We are open to candidates coming from a range of backgrounds and are committed to hiring for impact, rather than a certain set of experiences. The starting salary is $65,000.. Beth El provides excellent medical coverage at no cost to its employees. We also offer dental, vision, and life insurance plans. Compensation includes family and parental leave, vacation days, and professional development opportunities.
