Position Summary:
The Senior Engagement and Program Manager is a strategic and creative leadership role focused on elevating the quality, reach, and impact of our adult programming. This newly created position is part of an exciting chapter in our congregation’s journey, offering opportunities to dream big, build boldly, and foster meaningful connections across generations.
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Creative Strategy, the Senior Engagement and Program Manager will lead the design and execution of adult engagement initiatives, support high-profile events, and eventually oversee the day-to-day operations of the Programs Department. This includes mentoring two Program Managers, collaborating across departments, and managing departmental budgets.
The Senior Engagement and Program Manager will provide key support to the Director of Programs and Creative Strategy in the planning and execution of large-scale holiday celebrations and marquee events. They will also work closely with the Director of Membership to ensure members are fully connected to the full range of program offerings. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and loves turning creative ideas into impactful experiences that inspire, connect, and transform.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Program Development
- Design and implement adult engagement programs (e.g., grief support, divorce support, empty nester groups) that meet people where they are, and speak to their unique needs.
- Launch and nurture engaged, lay-led affinity and interest groups, providing training and ongoing mentorship.
- Serve as the on-site staff liaison for congregant gatherings and meetups, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant atmosphere.
- Develop targeted programming for members in their 40s–60s to deepen relationships and foster a true sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with the Membership Department to align programming with membership growth and retention goals.
Team Leadership and Department Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the Programs Department, ensuring seamless, high-quality program delivery.
- Build systems and workflows that promote efficiency, creativity, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and budgets with clarity and accountability.
- Monitor expenses and use project management tools to track budget allocations.
- Supervise and mentor two Program Managers, cultivating a culture of excellence and support.
Strategic Collaboration & Director Support
- Partner with the Director of Programs and Creative Strategy to bring marquee events, holiday celebrations, and speaker engagements to life.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans, clear timelines, and effective systems.
- Coordinate logistics and ensure programming aligns with organizational goals.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives and handle administrative tasks that keep everything running smoothly.
- Handle administrative responsibilities such as ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, and preparing materials for projects.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Track attendance, feedback, and engagement metrics to assess impact.
- Identify areas for growth and present thoughtful recommendations.
- Participate in team debriefs and planning sessions to refine the member experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in program/project management, community engagement, or related areas.
- Proven success in designing and executing impactful programs and events.
- Strong understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and holidays.
- Proficiency with project management tools and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Empathetic and authentic approach to member engagement.
Requirements:
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
