Description

Temple Ohabei Shalom is starting a brand-new Jewish afterschool program – and we’re looking for an energetic, dedicated, and organized Program Coordinator to bring our program to life! The ShalomBASE Program Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of running a dynamic after-school community! This includes overall program vision, curriculum and lesson planning (in partnership with our Education team), hiring, developing and managing the teaching team, parent communications and engagement, enrollment, event planning, and student management.  The Program Coordinator cares for and inspires students, motivates and supports staff, and provides unparalleled customer service to parents.  

Our inaugural class will be made up of children aged 4 to 7 years, from our preschool’s Transitional Kindergarten program as well as kindergarten, first, and second grade classes from several local schools. Our program will run from the end of the school day until 5:30pm Monday – Friday, with paid time built into staff’s schedules before school pick-up for planning, set-up, and team meetings and after dismissal for clean-up. This is a full-time, exempt position, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. The ShalomBASE Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.  

Qualifications and Core Competencies  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Passion for Jewish education (particularly informal and experiential education) and familiarity with Jewish holidays and customs and synagogue life  
  • Warm, personable, resourceful, and dependable with strong customer service skills 
  • Entreprenurial spirit - detail-oriented, highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and tasks at one time; comfort taking initiative  
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing demands and expectations, and open to new things and to working outside of the job description  
  • Proficient in all basic software platforms Microsoft (Word, Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Forms) communication platforms (outlook, zoom…)

 What to expect from the job:  

  • Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm  
  • 13 – 16 children aged 4 – 7  
  • Salary commensurate with experience: $60,000 - $65,000 annually, Benefits including health insurance, dental, FSA, paid time off, and retirement  
  • Curriculum (and other) support from our HomeBASE director, our preschool assistant director, and our religious school director, as well as other members of the Temple staff  
  • A collaborative teaching team of three educators
