REPORTS TO:           Individual Giving Manager
 
CLASSIFICATION:    Full-Time, Non-Exempt
 
Founded by Michigan survivors to create a lasting memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, The Zekelman Holocaust Center (“The HC”) is guided by its mission to engage, educate, and empower by remembering the Holocaust. The Center is one of the largest and oldest Holocaust museums in the United States and we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to our museum. Our 55,000 square foot facility is home to our newly renovated multi-million-dollar permanent exhibit featuring our extensive collection of survivor testimonies, artifacts, archival documents, paintings, and films, an authentic boxcar, and a sapling from the tree located outside Anne Frank’s hiding place window that is described in her diary. Embedded in the community, the Center is home to over 50 trained staff members. Our robust Education Department offers school and adult groups customized tours, educational workshops, and professional development training programs. Guests are empowered to apply the lessons learned to create a compassionate society where people take responsible action.
 
Summary of Responsibilities
The Development Associate plays an important role by providing administrative support to all fundraising and stewardship activities. They work closely with donors, stakeholders, and all departments of The Holocaust Center.
 
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the commemorative ad journal content for the Annual Benefit, including tracking incoming ads, some ad design work, editing, and proofreading
  • Process donations and perform related tasks such as invoicing, receipting, and reporting
  • Oversee the museum Tribute program
  • Assist with fundraising and stewardship
  • Assist with in-house mailings
  • Assist in the grant writing and reporting process
  • Provide administrative support to the CEO and Development Team
  • Manage inventory of Development department office supplies
  • Attend Holocaust Center events and assist as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:  
  • Ability to set goals, manage projects, and achieve objectives
  • Provide high-level customer service at all times
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines under pressure
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Sheets, and Trello or other collaborative project management tool
  • Database (Altru, Raisers Edge, etc.) or other CRM experience preferred
  • Basic graphic design skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, showing sensitivity to older adults and Holocaust survivors
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and discretion
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
