Successful applicant is required to work in person, year-round at Camp Bob Waldorf in Glendale, CA. Not a remote position.

Job Description

AN OPPORTUNITY
Optimize the life-changing power of camp! Our Registration and Outreach Associate is part of a team that welcomes lower-income families into our community by recruiting and then stewarding them through the application process, assisting with presentations/orientations, monitoring form submission, and managing a variety of office functions. All team members of Camp Bob Waldorf and Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters work together to deliver the highest quality youth programs through the best practices of the industry, to provide children the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Camp Bob Waldorf and Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) enrich the lives of youth throughout Greater Los Angeles with the tools and support system they need to thrive from elementary school to college and beyond, driven by the values of community, inclusion, identity and respect. Our residential Jewish and non-sectarian camp programs, weekend retreats, outdoor backpacking trips, college scholarship programs and mentoring activities provide over 1,200 underserved children each year with a safe, nurturing environment where they learn to be creative, responsible, and thoughtful individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with the camp team to develop and implement a camper recruitment plan. Specifically:
• Visit and communicate with partner agencies and their staff year-round.
• Contact returning campers and provide information on upcoming programs.
• Communicate with families in Spanish and English regarding recruitment, enrollment, registration and other issues that may arise.
• Work with the camp team to maintain CBW Social Media calendar and posts.

2. Work with the Registration and Outreach Manager, Assistant Director, and Camp Director:
• Assist with recruiting and enrolling campers in camp programs and following up with families regarding any necessary forms.
• Process fees for families after campers enrolled.
• Assist with cabin assignments, partner referrals and parent concerns year-round and logistics throughout the busy retreat and summer sessions.
• Manage a system of reports on camper enrollment data for camp team and other divisions of the JBBBSLA agency.
• Work closely with other divisions of JBBBSLA (Mentoring, College Access + Success) to facilitate recruitment, enrollment, special events and to monitor status of campers related to other Depts during camp.
• Facilitate and assist with registration flow on opening and closing days of camp retreats and summer programs
• Plan and assist with implementation of annual Gear Up for Camp Day.
• Manage and assist with entering camper evaluations, staff evaluations and related data.
• Assist with various meeting agendas, minutes and reports.
• Other duties as assigned

3. Manage routine office functions
• Procure office supplies and maintain inventory.
• Implement system of mail distribution for campers/families during the summer season.
• Manage general phone line and voicemail box.
• Assist with mailings and promotional materials to camper families and community partners.

ON A TEAM
The Registration and Outreach Associate works closely with all members of the camp department and will be supervised by a member of the camp management staff. The position will also interact with other members of JBBBSLA including staff members of the HR/Operations, Development, Finance, College Access + Success and Mentoring Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required
• 1-2 years administrative or enrollment-based experience
• Strong, bilingual oral and written communication skills
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, positive attitude and energy, sense of self, openminded, and empathetic communicator.
• Strong initiative and a willingness to go the extra mile for those that we serve.
• Team player, collaborative, and ability to work independently.
• Some weekend hours and occasional flexibility with schedule required

COMPENSATION
• Salary Range - $21 - $25/hour
• Non-exempt
• Year-round, fulltime, hourly position (38-hours per week)

• Camp Bob Waldorf is in Glendale, CA. Position will be based out of Camp office year-round.

Camp Bob Waldorf/JBBBSLA offers a compensation package that includes a competitive salary range commensurate with experience. Generous paid vacation and sick leave plus three additional personal days, paid federal and all no work Jewish holidays (avg. 13-19 holidays per year.)
