 Program Focus: Jewish youth ages 6–13
 Location: Malibu, CA (In-person & Remote)
 Part-Time ($25.00-$30.00 PER HR.) | Hybrid (In-person monthly, Zoom meetings as needed)

About Us:

The Malibu Jewish Youth Club is an engaging and dynamic community for Jewish children ages 6–13. We are building a leadership-focused youth program that blends Jewish values, community service, team building, and personal development. Through interactive meetings, fun and meaningful events, and immersive experiences like our quarterly retreats at Camp Shalom’s ropes course, we aim to empower the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate, organized, and creative Youth Advisor to lead and grow our youth program. Working in liaison with the founder of the MJYC, this role combines direct mentorship with children, event planning, digital content development, and leadership training in a warm, inclusive Jewish environment. The Youth Advisor will meet with our youth board monthly, help coordinate quarterly leadership retreats, one-off events hosted at Camp Shalom and build the group’s online presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Monthly Youth Board Meetings

    • Plan and Facilitate in-person meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM in Malibu.
    • Work with MJYC founder to guide children in planning programs and building leadership skills through Jewish values.
  • Coordinate Events & Retreats

    • Collaborate with youth to plan and execute quarterly retreats at Camp Shalom’s ropes course, one-off family events at Camp Shalom reinforcing leadership and teamwork.
    • Help design meaningful, age-appropriate experiences aligned with monthly meeting themes.
  • Develop Youth Leadership

    • Mentor youth participants in communication, collaboration, and leadership development.
    • Organize and lead 1–3 Zoom meetings per month to plan off-site retreats and check in on leadership progress.
  • Website and Digital Platform Development

    • Help build and manage a simple website or digital hub to showcase the club’s mission, upcoming events, photos, and youth contributions.
    • Guide youth in contributing to and maintaining the site as a leadership skill.
  • Communication & Coordination

    • Work closely with club directors and families to ensure smooth operations and strong participation.
    • Create and manage digital communications (e.g., email updates, event reminders).

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children ages 6–18 in educational, camp, or youth group settings
  • A strong Jewish identity and familiarity with Jewish culture and values
  • Event planning or leadership programming experience
  • Ability to mentor youth with empathy, structure, and creativity
  • Comfort with basic website development tools and digital communication platforms (e.g., facebook,instagram and email communcations)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative and proactive approach

Time Commitment:

  • One in-person meeting/month (3rd Tuesday, 6:30–7:15 PM)
  • 1–3 Zoom meetings/month (flexible scheduling)
  • Additional hours as needed for event planning, communications, and digital content (~4–6 hours/month)

 

  • Quarterly off site retreats (date: TBD)

 

  • On-off family retreats at Camp Shalom

Compensation:

$25.00 per hour.  This is a part-time position with flexible hours.
