Description

Seeking a Controller to manage the financial records and transactions of all fiscal activities of the organization. The position involves working with professional staff, volunteers and members to serve the community. Experience with non-profit bookkeeping, accounting and strong tech skills are required.

We are conveniently located in the Great Neck, NY and offer a great benefits package, including health insurance and priceless work-life balance. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and two evening meetings per month.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization’s accounting system. The proficient candidate is responsible for daily accounting, such as journal entries (A/P A/R), invoices, bank account reconciliations, and bank deposits. The Controller also keeps records of assets and liabilities and assists with preparing monthly financial reports and oversees the annual review for the financial statements.

Responsibilities: Reconcile general ledger accounts in Blackbaud

Perform accounting procedures such as:

  • Accounts receivable, including billing and collections
  • Account payable, including expense documentation and issuing payments
  • Keeping Payroll records and related data entry
  • General ledgers
  • Records daily deposits and prepares monthly cash statements
  • Managing general operating budget
  • Managing and preparing reports for financial accounts
  • Prepare monthly forecast summarizing current and projected financial position
  • Collecting data needed for annual financial audits
  • Tracking and Communication with financial affiliates, vendors, clients, and staff to assure best practice systems and address financial issues.
  • Tracking and preparing year-end 1099/1096

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and has experience working in the non-profit world.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance field required.
  • 4+ years of non-profit accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Blackbaud/Financial Edge Online software, bank reconciliations, accounts Payable/Receivable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience setting up agency/program budgets.
  • Computer literacy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, organizational skills, and dedication to completing projects promptly (meeting ongoing deadlines is mandatory).
  • Experience with Shulcloud is a big plus!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
