BJE: Builders of Jewish Education | Los Angeles | Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt, Union Position

As BJE’s Coordinator, Fundraising & Communications you’ll play a vital role in BJE’s campaigns, events, and programs that inspire community engagement and investment and drive visibility. Salary Range: $30.909 - $44.287 Full time, Hourly, Nonexempt, Union Position

What You’ll Do

This position combines coordination of fundraising campaigns and events and donor stewardship with essential data entry and media content asset management for the agency’s communications programs.

  • Use Donor Perfect database to accurately record, acknowledge, track and report on donations.
  • Help plan and execute fundraising campaigns and appeals, coordinating logistics and materials.
  • Maintain and deepen BJE’s relationships with its donors, leaders and other constituents through accurate, timely, and warm coordination and communication.
  • Play a key role in coordinating BJE’s signature Annual Benefit event through planning, invitation and gift management, volunteer coordination, and event-day set-up, execution, wrap up and follow-up.
  • Maintain BJE’s communications calendar and work with staff to keep it up to date.
  • Manage a digital asset management system by coordinating the collection and maintenance of all multimedia content from staff for streamlined access by the communications team.
  • Manage an organized, central system for gathering all digital content assets required from staff members so the communications team can easily find and use what they need.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in communications, public relations, business development, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience using Donor Perfect (or other donor databases).
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising practices, endowments, DAFs, grants, and donor stewardship.
  • Experience with integrated marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact, Canva, or similar platforms) and social media experience (Meta, LinkedIn).
  • Knowledge of Jewish religious practices and the ability to relate to individuals from a broad spectrum of Jewish outlooks and practices.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and committed to proofing and correcting for utmost accuracy.
  • Ability to balance multiple workstreams, respond quickly to shifting priorities, and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Resourceful, flexible, and able to work independently and collaborate with others.
  • Sensitivity to the confidentiality of communications and shared knowledge, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Knowledge of the L.A. Jewish community is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Hebrew is a plus.

Location and Travel

The position is located at BJE’s offices in Los Angeles. Programs are held throughout the greater Los Angeles area, sometimes in the evenings and on Sundays.
