Executive Director

Santa Cruz Hillel

Santa Cruz Hillel seeks an experienced nonprofit executive leader to serve as our Executive Director starting as soon as possible. This is a full time position. Our Executive Director will lead the execution of our vision toward a diverse, interconnected, and vibrant Jewish community and world, enriched by Santa Cruz Hillel students and alumni.

As Executive Director, you will lead Santa Cruz Hillel in its mission to engage students in Jewish life, learning and connection to Jewish community in a manner that is warm, welcoming and inclusive, and will supervise and mentor two full-time staff professionals. You will be excellent in this role if you are passionate about leading and supporting a team, developing financial resources, supporting students, and fostering the connection between Santa Cruz Hillel and the larger community.

The Santa Cruz Hillel Executive Director must be a self-starter, exceptional communicator, relationship builder, and skilled multi-tasker who will partner with students, colleagues, university administration and faculty, alumni, parents and community leaders to drive Hillel’s mission, values and goals. The Executive Director is a hands-on and creative leader, inspiring stakeholders through diligent attention to the overall well-being of the Hillel and its varied resources.

The Executive Director must have a strong commitment to Jewish pluralism and diversity, as well as an understanding of the progressive environment of Santa Cruz and the UCSC campus climate. Santa Cruz Hillel is a home away from home for Jewish students at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College and CSU Monterey Bay. We seek to provide a vibrant and welcoming Jewish community, regardless of students' Jewish knowledge and/or background. You will be excellent in this role if you are passionate about sparking unexpected connections and cultivating shared experiences that inspire students to explore how their own identity connects with Jewish values, community, and Israel.

Additionally, UC Santa Cruz is beginning a search for an Educational Trainer specializing in Jewish issues. This new position at the University will give Hillel’s new ED a strong on-campus partner in building a strong Jewish community at UCSC. As both positions will be filled this year, Jewish professional couples may have a chance to have the financial resources to take advantage of Santa Cruz’s beauty, climate, and outdoor lifestyle.
