Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000 annually

The Job: Do you have experience supervising a preschool and want to work with an amazing team on a beautiful campus? If so, this might be the role for you! As the Assistant Director you will be responsible for assisting the ECE Director in school supervisory and administrative functions. In this role you will support the ECE Director through supervision and direct services of OFJCC Early Childhood Education personnel, programs and activities related to young children and families.  This includes classroom supervision, curriculum development, admissions and family programming. You will actively articulate and implement the preschool vision in the classroom while providing support, supervision and guidance to ECE teachers.

The Core Duties:

  • Manage, oversee and support multiple classrooms to ensure quality and ongoing communication with the teaching team and parents while supporting children
  • Manage to ensure consistent compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations, including staff qualifications, teacher/child ratios and health and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with leadership in growing and supporting the preschool’s philosophy and direction including Reggio Emilia and constructivist approaches
  • Collaborate with Assistant Manager of Curriculum on curriculum improvements and strategy
  • Lead and embolden staff to ensure overall success of the preschool by communicating agency vision and strategy, job expectations, coaching, and fostering continued professional development
  • Display knowledge of the Reggio teaching philosophy by coaching and supporting teachers with curriculum development and documentation and as they set up their environments

 

The Essentials:

  • Bachelor Degree in Child Development or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • ECE Site Supervisor Permit
  • 4-8 years of experience teaching in a licensed child care center or comparable program. Experience working in a Reggio/Constructivist environment a plus
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a preschool setting
  • 15 hours of health and safety training; Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Proven ability to lead professional development efforts and support educators within a teaching and learning environment
  • Demonstrated collaborative player in a dynamic preschool environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (written and oral).
  • Ability to be an active listener
  • Ability to see the big picture with multiple competing needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to community building
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when needed
  • Comfortable in a multicultural environment
  • Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
