7th Grade Service Learning Co-Teacher for 2024-2025
Help lead our innovative, experiential, 7th grade service learning program, Hineini. We do not just learn Torah, we DO Torah by going out into the community to care for the sick, visit the elderly, clean up our environment, feed the hungry, and more. This is an incredible opportunity to shape students in their b’nei mitzvah year to understand Judaism as a verb that makes our world a better place. By drawing connections between Torah and social action, our students connect more deeply with our tradition while making an impact in the community.
Responsibilities Include:
In this role, you will partner with our long-time Hineini teacher, Jane Dubro, who coordinates volunteer experiences and has overall responsibility for the curriculum and the program. You will play a vital role in working with Jane to create a meaningful experience for our 7th graders.
Requirements:
Hineini generally meets on Sunday mornings and time may vary based on the requirements of the volunteer site. The program runs approximately 26 times from September to May with weeks off for school vacations. Generally, two hours of teaching and one hour of prep each week.
Hours:7th Grade Hineini Program- Sundays 9:30am - 11:45am (hours may vary) + 1 hour prepPotential Add-Ons:Virtual Hebrew Tutoring - Tuesday & Thursday afternoons/evenings
Salary Range (based on experience):Hineini - $200-$250/sessionHebrew Tutoring- $75/hour
