You: The Senior Director is responsible for the overall functioning of ILTC and International Kallah.  This is a full-time, year-round position. The Senior Director will reside at Perlman Camp in Wayne County, PA during the summer camp season and can be based east coast or mid-west during the school year. The Senior Director will be responsible for recruitment of teens, overall ILTC and Kallah program, hiring and supervision of staff (in conjunction with the AVP, Camp Leadership) and evaluation of the program after the summer.

What you will get to do as Senior Director of Camp: 

  • Champion for ILTC and International Kallah 
  • Responsible for recruitment of teens for all domestic leadership programs 
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of camp including camp schedule, daily logistics, supplies, bus operations, copiers, rental cars, golf carts, etc 
  • Recruit, hire, place, train, and manage seasonal employees (in conjunction with AVP, Camp Leadership) 
  • Responsible maintaining budget for ILTC and Kallah program 
  • Liaison with marketing team to ensure high quality marketing materials for external communication and recruitment efforts of domestic leadership programs.   
  • Responsible for reaching registration goals in conjunction with all regional BBYO Community Impact staff. 
  • Responsible for working with Marketing to create resources for regional communities for recruitment 
  • Responsible for working with AVP, Camp Leadership and Leadership Teens to create parent and teen informational calls 
  • Create the daily schedule and work with summer leadership and content team (in conjunction with AVP, Camp Leadership) 
  • Implement educational curriculum and standards for all experiences partnered with the BBYO content team  
  • Travel in the Fall/Winter/Spring to community events, regional conventions, parlor meetings, and other BBYO programs to promote domestic summer programs   
  • Work with the AVP, Camp Leadership and the full camp Leadership Team (including Operations Director, Leadership Directors, and Educators) to prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff training 
  • Supervise all aspects of logistics of programs at Perlman camp including physical and mental health team, daily schedule, and basic running of day-to-day issues at camp 
  • IC role to be determined- September – February 30-50% of time 
  • Organize and facilitate Summer Recruitment Alignment meetings 
  • In collaboration with AVP, Camp Leadership supervise office procedures, opening-and closing-day procedures for staff and campers 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Camp Season: 

  • Reside at Perlman Camp and coordinate operational aspects of the program including facility use and scheduling.  
  • Build community for each session with the 40-50 staff and approximately 200-300 teens each session. 
  • Oversee BBYO camp business office, including troubleshooting, parent communication, discipline, and physical and mental health. 
  • Assist and oversee staff with planning of programming. 
  • Oversee and advise Wellness Team and leadership staff on handling teen issues when they arise; step in when needed. 
  • Make daily decisions regarding maintenance, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and camp culture. Ensure that camp atmosphere is conducive to a successful and fun environment. 

Role Requirements:  

  • 5-8 years of work experience with at least 5 years of leadership or management experience, preferably in a residential camp setting or comparable experiential learning environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required 
  • Advance degree in related field preferred  
  • Experience leading teams or projects is preferred  
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management 
  • Ability to travel approximately 35% each year, including attending International Convention, Staff Conference, Movement Experiences and Summer Leadership Team retreats and live at camp during the summer 
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (nights and weekends)  
  • Unrestricted work authorization to work in the U.S. without holding visa or sponsorship now or in the future  
  • Experience in Jewish camping, Jewish education, Jewish communal service, non-profit management, recreation management, youth leadership development and/or other equivalent experience. 
  • As frequent in-person interaction with BBYO teens is required for this role, the staff-member must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 within 6 weeks of start date.
